| Sony has ditched the "boomerang" controller originally seen with the PS3 at E3 last year in favour of sticking to the traditional lines of the Dual Shock 2 controller - but has made several key technical changes to the pad. Chief amongst these changes is the addition of tilt technology which can sense the motion of the pad through 360 degrees - allowing, for example, the control of games such as air combat title WarHawk, which was used as a demonstration, simply by moving the controller around without actually touching the sticks or buttons. While the obvious comparison is going to be with Nintendo's Wii controller, the technology used here is actually very different - not least since the PS3 pad does not detect where it is being pointed, as the Wii controller does. As such, the application of the two controllers will be quite different. Sony has also made the Dual Shock wireless, with a USB charging port on the back of the pad, and in a technical change sure to endear the firm to fans of racing games (such as the next-gen Gran Turismo, a prototype of which was the first software to be showed off at the conference), the R2 and L2 shoulder buttons have become proper triggers, similar to those found on systems like the Xbox 360. Lembro-me de ter um Sidewinder para PC com o mesmo tipo de sensores... e gostei tanto dele que acho que o dei.
O conceito apesar de similar parece-me radicalmente diferente do da Nintendo.... se a implementação for como a do SideWinder... então é apenas um DualShock com butões iguais aos da XBox (excelentes por sinal).
Pelo que li... é apenas vaporware... para diminuir o impacto do comando Nintendo (que ou irá estar condenado ao sucesso... ou então ao fracasso absoluto. Não acredito no meio termo numa solução tão radical)

Those who purchase the 20GB version of the PlayStation 3 will find themselves with less options than those who buy the 60GB model when it comes to data storage and Wi-Fi functionality.
According to Sony's latest spec sheet, the 20GB PS3 will not feature inputs for memory sticks, SD or compact flash cards. Nor will it offer any Wi-Fi options or any HDMI output.
The 60GB PS3 will come with a single HDMI port - and not two, as the prototype shown at last year's E3 suggested. The prototype also featured three Ethernet ports and six USB ports, but the console unveiled yesterday has just one Ethernet and four USB ports.
At least those picking up a 20GB machine will save a bit of cash - it'll go on sale for 100 Euros less than the 60GB version, at 499 Euros, when the console launches in the US and Europe on November 17th.
